Dr. Tim Dailey
Director of Bands
Dr. Tim Dailey is the Director of Bands for the Milford Exempted Village School District in Milford, OH. Prior to his 2018 appointment to the Milford Band Program, Dr. Dailey was the Director of Bands at Grant County High School in Dry Ridge, KY for five years. Under his direction, the Grant County Band Program doubled in size, won the 2015 KMEA Class 4A State Marching Band Championship, and received accolades for the Jazz Ensemble, Brass Choir, and Winter Guard. Additionally, Dr. Dailey serves as Principal Trumpet and Assistant Conductor of “Cincinnati’s Own” Fillmore Wind Band who most recently performed at the 2017 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, University of Arkansas, and University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Dr. Dailey is an active performer on the trumpet, and freelances regularly in the Greater Cincinnati Area. His performance credits include the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, the Fort Smith Symphony Orchestra, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, the Lexington Philharmonic, the Ozark Mountains British Brass Band, the Boston Mountains Brassworks, the Fayetteville Jazz Collective, and the Fillmore Wind Band.
When he isn’t teaching or playing music, Dr. Dailey enjoys reading, golfing, and spending time with his wife, Mackenzie and daughter, Sophie.
Assistant Director of Band
Andrew Desmond joined Milford Bands for the 2018-2019 band season as the Assistant Band Director. Prior to joining the Milford band staff, Mr. Desmond was Director of Bands at Lake Oswego High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon. During his tenure, the Lake Oswego bands consistently qualified for the Oregon State Band Championships at the highest classification level. Mr. Desmond also served as Music Coordinator for the Lake Oswego School District and was actively involved as a marching band judge for the Northwest Association for Performing Arts.
Mr. Desmond received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, he performed with several of the university’s premiere ensembles, including the Wind Symphony and Marching Band. Since 2015, he has been a visual staff member of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of Denver, Colorado and has also worked as a brass consultant for the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Desmond is excited to begin working with the wonderful band students at Milford and looks forward to a great year.
Ms. Jodi Smith
Junior High Band Director
Jodi Smith is the Milford Junior High School band director since the 2014-2015 school year. Ms. Smith returned to the district after serving 8 years as the assistant high school band director from 1999-2007. Her current duties include 6th grade beginning band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band and assisting with high school curricular and extra-curricular bands.
A native of north-central Ohio and cum laude graduate of Bowling Green State University, Ms. Smith was a recipient of the flute studio’s Music Talent Award for undergraduate music majors, and a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota music service fraternity. Following graduation she was an assistant band director at Elder High School on the west side of Cincinnati for three years before beginning at Milford in the fall of 1999. The Milford Concert Band consistently earned superior ratings in Class B at the OMEA Large Group event during her tenure. Throughout the last several years she has maintained a private flute studio at Walnut Hills High School as well as serving as a flute/woodwind clinician at numerous local schools.
Ms. Smith maintains an active performing schedule, serving as co-principal flute/piccolo of the Fillmore Wind Band, the pre-eminent wind band in the Cincinnati area. She is also a founding member of the Fillmore Chamber Music Society, formed in 2014.
Ms. Smith currently resides in Deer Park, Ohio, with her partner, Nick.
Assistant Director of Bands
Brandon Dittgen joined Milford Bands for the 2018-2019 band season as the Assistant Band Director. Prior to joining the Milford band staff, Mr. Dittgen was an educational resource specialist at Buddy Roger’s Music, and taught for four years as the band director at Nicholas County High School in Kentucky. Mr. Dittgen is an excellent percussionist who will provide a great deal of balance to our team.
Mr. Dittgen received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Morehead State University, and a Master of Arts Education from University of the Cumberlands.
